Régine René-Labrousse is an internationally recognized expert in intercultural relations and sustainable development, specializing in bridging high-context cultures with global systems to foster mutual understanding, innovation, and collaboration. A 1st generation Haitian-American from New Orleans, LA, Régine brings over 15 years of experience in cultural diplomacy, stakeholder engagement, and social impact initiatives across diverse sectors.
Régine’s career began with the U.S. Department of State in 2006. She served as Cultural Affairs Officer in Haiti from 2010 to 2013, where she led post-earthquake public diplomacy programs and played a pivotal role in inter-agency relief efforts. Her work emphasized building trust and meaningful partnerships between international stakeholders and local communities—a challenging yet deeply rewarding mission that shaped her career focus.
In 2014, Régine transitioned to the private sector with the HEINEKEN Company, where she established and led BRANA-HEINEKEN’s Corporate Affairs Department in Haiti. Over five years, she managed Public and Government Relations, Communication, and Sustainability efforts, including overseeing the groundbreaking USAID-IDB-BRANA local sourcing project, Pitimi Lokal. Régine’s expertise in navigating multi-stakeholder environments enabled her to achieve impactful outcomes, even amidst complex socio-political dynamics.
Her leadership extended to her tenure as President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Haiti (AmCham Haiti). As the first American woman and youngest member to serve in this capacity, Régine championed diversity, inclusion, and transparency. Under her leadership, AmCham shifted its focus to economic development, business support services, and ethical business practices, leaving a lasting legacy of inclusion and innovation.
Today, Régine leverages her intercultural expertise to design and implement strategic initiatives that empower individuals and organizations to thrive in diverse cultural landscapes. Whether engaging with prominent leaders or grassroots communities, her work centers on creating sustainable social impact and unlocking the potential of cross-cultural collaboration. She remains committed to advancing her mission of building bridges across cultures and driving systemic transformation in Haiti and beyond.
Foreign Direct Investment and strong management by HEINEKEN has set BRANA to take the lead on responsible corporate practices and increasing contributions to economic development in Haiti. Managing the company's public affairs and sustainability agenda, I've learned about market challenges and opportunities.
The Haitian private sector must be involved to challenge the status quo within an economy begging for stronger leadership. At the head of AmCham's leadership for 5 years and at the Forum Economique du Secteur Prive, I've worked directly with the country's top business leaders to advocate for better public policies.
Educational, Cultural, and Professional Development exchange programs are key tools to nurture lifelong relationships between these two neighboring countries. From Fulbright Scholars the International Visitors Leadership Program, I've facilitated the participation of over 300 key leaders for the U.S. Embassy in Haiti.
A Strong Woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink ~ Gina Carey. The "poto mitan" is the strongest and most dedicated member of the group. Haitian woman can get through any situation, imagine when that power is applied to national challenges.
Every economy needs entrepreneurs to bring forward solutions. There are many opportunities and existing networks available to support entrepreneurs in their journey to do business in Haiti.
The Haitian Diaspora hold more answers to Haiti's challenges than we realize. Being able to leverage their influence, financial and human capital is the biggest challenge. The opportunities are plentiful.
During my favorite diplomatic assignment, the State Department created this video to attract more brilliant minds to represent U.S. interest around the world. They caught me in action while working in Cap-Haitian. "It's not simply a job, or a career. It's a whole lifestyle." We have brave officers serving all over the world!
Interviewed by Kesner Pharel during his show Rendez-vous Economique on Tele Metropole. I explained how I managed AmCham Haiti's platform and network to attract additional investments into Haiti. This interview shares insights into the 2015 Regional AmCham BFA Conference "Diaspora Investments in Latin America & Caribbean" which gathered 250 businesspersons from 14 countries in the region.
During 2018 Women's Month, I joined forces with two phenomenal women to share our story on how we manage professional life and family life. Comedian and medical doctor Cynthia Jean-Louis, Senator Dieudonne Luma Etienne and myself shared some our anecdotes. Ticket Magazine did a great job supporting women the entire month!
This is what has inspired me. Let's see how we can make greater things happen together.
